Beyond his tenure in office, Professor Osinbajo continues to engage actively in global and African
development initiatives, with a focus on climate change, technology and AI for job creation, human
capital development, and innovative financing for development. In 2023, he was appointed Board Chair
of the Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A) and founded Climate Positive, an independent climate
action non-profit. He is also a member of the board of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. In 2023 he
was appointed to lead the Commonwealth observation Mission to the Sierra Leone elections, and in 2025,
he was appointed to lead the joint AU-ECOWAS Observation Mission to the Presidential elections in
Côte d’Ivoire. In 2024, he was appointed High Representative of the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) and serves as a Guardian of the UNDP-led Africa Innovation Foundation
(Timbuktoo). He is a member of the African Leaders Debt Relief Initiative (ALDRI), working alongside
former African Heads of State to address the continent’s sovereign debt challenges. Professor Osinbajo is
a co-founder of Future Perspectives, a youth-focused African nonprofit dedicated to leadership
development, innovation, and addressing major development challenges. In January 2026, he was
appointed Co-Chair of the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition, an independent initiative
supported by major philanthropies and endorsed by 18 countries, aimed at reimagining global
development cooperation in an era of declining aid. He is also a member of the Council of the Mo
Ibrahim Foundation.
